First aid is a skill that all classes should have leveled as high as possible. It can be used to heal yourself and others in battles, dungeons, raids, arenas, etc. It's also a great way to get the most out of your character and reduce downtime while farming or leveling.
It doesn't take up a profession slot, which makes it one of the easiest skills to learn and level. It also offers many benefits to both solo and group play, and can make a big difference in your healing capabilities.
You can start training this skill at level 1. Once you reach that point, you'll need to visit your trainer in any main city and start learning it. You'll need to return each time you level up until you reach 75.
Crafting Bandages and Anti-Venoms
To level First Aid, you'll need cloths that drop from Humanoid / Undead / Demon enemies in the game, and Anti-Venom sacs that drop from poisonous creatures. It is not necessary to have these materials in order to train your skill, but if you do, it will be quicker.
Cloths can be found in several places around Azeroth, including some of the new locations such as Dustwallow Marsh and Arathi Highlands. The cloths you'll need can be used to create a wide variety of bandages, and anti-venoms such as Powerful Anti-Venom.
There are many ways to get cloths, but the best ones will be those where there are a lot of humanoids around. You can also use a lot of the cloths that you collect for your primary profession to level your First Aid.
Buying First Aid Books
The first book you can buy for First Aid is the Expert First Aid - Under Wraps manual, which costs 1 gold in Alliance or Horde versions of the game. This book will teach you the Journeyman First Aid recipe, and it will unlock the option to craft Silk Bandages.
Once you've learned that, you can complete the Quest: Artisan First Aid - Under Wraps to gain access to more recipes. This quest can be done in both the Alliance and the Horde versions of the game, and it will reward you with Artisan First Aid rank, which will allow you to craft more Bandages.
Completing this quest will give you the ability to craft Heavy Mageweave Bandages, Runecloth Bandages, and Heave Runecloth Bandages. This is the first of three levels of First Aid that you will need to achieve in order to be able to craft the higher level Bandages.
These higher level bandages can be crafted at up to 300, but only when you have the proper equipment to make them. To start with, you'll need to be at least level 35 in the Alliance version of the game and 30 in the Horde.
You'll need to do a lot of bandage crafting in order to get your First Aid to 300, so make sure that you have the right gear for it. You can find the materials you need in the market or at vendors around town.
